Bible Verses About Faith

Bible verses about faith are abundant in the Bible. It seems like every book in the Bible has some passages on this topic. This subject is a complicated one for many people because there is really no way to measure it and it’s so hard to learn how to have more of it!

The good thing is that you can learn a lot about it by reading the Bible. I’m going to list some very well-known faith bible verses as well as some that you might not have heard of that are some of my favorite.

Well-Known Bible Verses About Faith

Foggy Beach

Hebrews 11 is known as the “faith chapter”. This is a great starting place for anyone wanting to learn about it. Not only does it list many people in the Bible (Like Abraham, Abel, Enoch, Noah, etc.) but it also explains why they are know for their faith. I’ll just list the first verse here, but if you really want a great introduction to this topic read the whole book.

Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." Read more about this faith verse here>>>

1 Peter 5:7 Let Him have all your worries and cares, for He is always thinking about you and watching everything that concerns you.

Matthew 17:20 He replied, "Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."

Luke 17:6 He replied, "If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it will obey you.

Matthew 21:21 Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and it will be done.

Some of My Favorites

James 1:3 Knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.

Philemon 1:6 I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ.

Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Matthew 13:58 And he did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith.

1 Timothy 5:8 If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his immediate family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

Thoughts on Faith

If you add it up there are probably hundreds of Bible verses about faith. I think this shows how important it is to God that we get this idea of believing in something that we can’t see. Many times in my life I have asked God to just show Himself to me because I was having a hard time believing what I felt like He was telling me or I wasn’t sure what to do in a certain situation (such as moving to a new state, or who I should marry or changing jobs). In spite of all my begging I never did see Him. In spite of this I know that I have felt God and I have seen Him working in people. The fact that I can’t see Him does make it hard to believe, but I think this is something that God is really tying to get us to understand. We must believe in things that we can’t see.

The book of James is one of my favorite in the Bible. James has some very good things to say on this topic as well, especially about how it doesn’t work just to say that you believe in something. You have to do something about it. For example, it doesn’t work to just say that you believe in God. You must live a life that follows His commands. This is just one example of the type of things you can find in the book of James. There are many other good things that James does a great job of explaining. This book has really helped me understand a lot of things about being a Christian. I encourage you to read it for yourself if you want to see even more Bible verses about faith.
